Welcome Back! We hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing summer!
KEDS staff is really looking forward to starting the new dance season. We can’t believe that this is already our 10th year! All of KEDS teachers have been busy training this summer to stay current and keep classes fresh and modern! All of KEDS teachers are attending the CDTA (Canadian Dance Teachers Association) two day workshops to take class and review changes to the CDTA Jazz and Tap syllabus! As of this year, all of KEDS teachers will become certified, registered teachers with the CDTA – a nationally recognized accredited syllabus that upholds professional standards across Canada. It is rare for a studio to have all teachers certified at this level and we are very proud of our staff for undertaking this intensive training program. KEDS will be offering CDTA Jazz and Tap exams starting in 2011, along with our Royal Academy of Dance ballet exams that we have been offering with a 100% pass rate in all levels since 2004. In addition to the syllabus training, our teachers have been busy globe trotting and taking class with some of the most accomplished teachers in Canada and the United States. Miss Mary attended Harbour Dance for two weeks in Vancouver taking Ballet, Modern, Lyrical and Jazz classes. Miss Sharlene also attended Jazz, Lyrical, and Hip-Hop classes at Harbour Dance in Vancouver. Miss Robyn, Miss Jamie and Miss Jana are attending the International Tap Conference in Vancouver, early September. Miss Jana will also be competing at the professional level at this tap conference, Wish her luck! The teachers can not wait to share all that they have learned with their students. DVD’S and Pictures are now available for pick-up at the Dance Studio during office hours 8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday. Once classes are in session they can also be picked up during class times. We are still taking DVD orders if you are interested. Doug Horne did a fabulous job and managed to put a picture from each dance on the recital CD and a picture of each soloist on the solo CD. A lot of time and attention has been put into these beautiful DVDs. We are holding our final open Registration on Tuesday September 7th from 3:00 – 7:00pm. Second Hand Sale – We will be holding a second hand sale for shoes and clothes on the above registration date. If you have items you would like to include in the sale you can drop them off to the studio during business office hours 8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday. If your item is in good condition you can charge about half of what you paid for it. Classes commence on Tuesday September 7th. We are offering a special Rate for our New Adult Jazz Variety class on Monday evenings – the first month is free! Come and check it out – you can’t lose! It will be lots of fun and a great workout! We are offering a Boys Only Hip-Hop Class again this year. The boys registered are serious and would like to compete. If you have a Boy that is interested in some serious break-dancing / Hip Hop, give us a call, they could steal the show. NOTE ON SHOES: The Tee-Oscar Sansha Tap shoe listed in the handbook for Pre-Tap 1 – 2 (up to 8 yrs old) has been discontinued. We are replacing the tap shoe with Bloch SO301L. We would like to thank you for the many referrals of clients and compliments we received from many of you this year. We really appreciate your kind words and recommendations to your friends, this is going to be a great year!
